The Verdict Is IN

So, today Grayson had his 2 month check-up appointment at the pediatricians office. The doctor told us that he has a little cold (we already knew that!) and he seemed a little concerned that Grayson has had said cold for over a couple of weeks. However, he didn't seem concerned enough to have him skip his immunizations for this appointment. He did notice the umbilical hernia and give us a little more information about it. And of course, he was weighed and measured! For those of you who were guessing, Jenney was closest! He weighs a whopping 19 lbs and 13 oz. measuring 25 in. long (I'd question that one because I measured him here at the house a couple of weeks ago and thought he was 26 in.). As far as percentiles go, he's in over the 95th% in height and weight and the 90th% for head circumference. Here's a direct quote from our pediatrician, "I think he's the biggest 2 month old I've ever seen."

A Little Fed UP

Forgive me, but I'm really looking forward to November 4, 2008. I am getting so sick of hearing all of this negative, attack-style campaigning that the Presidential candidates are doing. And it's not only them! It seems like everyone has an opinion about this election (obviously, I'm not arguing against that!), but that they are pushing their agenda so hard that it's becoming argumentative and hateful. This is from everyday, run-of-the-mill people also! I can't check my facebook page or read some good celebrity gossip (yes, I do check E! news daily - what can I say, I enjoy it!) without being assaulted by people posting their own opinions in such rude and offensive ways. All I can say is that there is only a little over a week left, and I'm looking forward to November 5 - and no longer having to hear about this election everywhere I turn.

Not Too Much

Not too much has been going on the past couple of weeks. I think that, along with a certain lack of time, is the main reason I haven't been blogging lately. I'll try to be better, I promise! But here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks.
Playing outside has been somewhat suspended because of the chilly weather and the fact that Grayson is so little. Jayce was thrilled that we got out for a while last week and equally as thrilled that I didn't take away the stick that he was playing with.
When he's not feeling sick because of all of the junk in his nose and throat, Grayson is really a very happy baby. He loves his swing - mainly watching himself in the mirror. Thanks again Crystal for the swing! Both boys have LOVED it!
Playing before bedtime. See how Grayson is looking at Jayce. If Jayce is around, Grayson only has eyes for him. Mommy can't get any attention!
Thank you Uncle Kevin and Aunti Rachel for Jayce's cool hat. He wore it to MOPS the other morning! Everyone thought he was so cool with his hat on!
Have you ever seen a baby with an umbilical hernia before? Well, now you have. It's not a big deal (according to the doctors) and it will heal itself. Isn't he such a big baby? He's only 2 months old, and the last time I weighed him he was 18 lbs (and it's been at least a 2 weeks since I weighed him!). Next week is Grayson's 2 month well baby checkup. Any guesses as to what he'll weigh? Or his length?
Jayce loves posing for pictures. Lately, he's been all about smiling for me!
Tummy time. Grayson is not a fan. Notice the look on his face! And yes, Lexi is still around. She was strategically placed to show those who were worried about her that she's still here!
I tried getting some cute, posed pictures with Grayson. I think I'm happy with this one.
At the mall. He is so proud of himself for standing on the bee. He loves to then fall off of it on his behind on the floor.
All smiles on the farm at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Two weeks ago Grandpa was having an excellent week. He'd just finished radiation and was getting ready to start a new round of chemo (a different kind). He was off of all pain medication and eating well. The new chemo has dealt him a few setbacks. Please pray that it will do its job and kill this cancer.
The three most handsome men in my life. Jayce discovered that Grayson is a boy the other day... now he talks about his own "penie" and Grayson's "penie". I find it hilarious.
Thanks for being so patient with me about getting posts up here. I'll definitely try doing better. I hope everyone is enjoying their fall weather!

It's Amazing...

It's amazing what can be accomplished when you get up at 5:30 am. Mind you, this was not by choice today, and the culprit is now snoozing peacefully in his swing. However, it is 10 am and I've already accomplished a lot of things today! I've done several loads of laundry, washed dishes that were left over from last night (I know, shame on me!), made a decent breakfast for my kid, gave Grayson a bath, put away clothes that were getting too small for Jayce and Grayson, caught up on my email, and now I'm actually blogging! The only downfall - I'm now exhausted and the TV is watching Jayce for me right now!
Here's some pictures from a couple of weeks ago when we were home for Kevin's reception. We took the boys and Rachel to Cooks Farm Dairy for cute pictures and delicious ice cream.

Like father, like son...
Right after I took this picture, Jayce and the cow tried to kiss... GROSS~
Mommy and Grayson
Tractor!
We had so much fun with Uncle Kevin and Aunti Rachel this weekend!
We tried to take some cute family pictures this weekend. I think we accomplished our goal!

Tagged

It seems to me that lately I've been beginning all of my posts with apologies about my lack of blogging over the past few weeks. And so again, I apologize for my lack of posting - Grayson has been sick with a cold, and his nights (when I usually have the time to sit down and spend at least an hour blogging) have been his fussiest (screaming, not able to eat, etc.). Therefore, I'm just getting around to logging on here again and I've discovered that I've been "tagged" by my dear cousin, Jenney. So, here it goes:

A Lazy Sunday Afternoon

What's better than a lazy Sunday afternoon...
Getting tickled by your Aunti and Uncle...
Building towers with your Grandma D....
Looking at a cute baby...
Being held by your Great-Grandma...
While looking at your Papa...
Cuddling with your Aunti...
Taking a good nap...
Playing cards...
And cuddling your Uncle. What a great afternoon!

The Reception

Ok, so these pictures are completely backwards... hang in there! I'll try to make sense of them best I can!
This is Bonnie, my parent's church's pastor's wife or a friend of the family, doing some HEAVY lifting!!
James (my cousin Jenney's son) and Jayce cleaning up. Apparently all you really need for entertainment these days is a broom and a dust mop. They had a blast!!
The four boys together for the first time. James and Jack (Jenney's second son) and each two months older than Jayce and Grayson (you know what I mean, right?) This was another part of the weekend I was really looking forward to. Jenney and her family live in Ohio, so we only get to see them a couple of times a year. However, I keep up with her family on her blog.
The meet and greet! Or are they trying to give each other five... I can't tell! Don't you love the blanket they are laying on! Thanks Mrs. Morse!
Jayce loves his cousin!
See, I told you too!
Jeremy's whole family made the trip over to celebrate with Kevin and Rachel. We thought it was only appropriate to document the entire family (for us at least!) together for the first time (with Rachel and Grayson). I love that our families get along so well.
Jayce with cousins. I wonder where Ginny was for this picture!!
Grayson with Aunti Kalena, Aunti Lauren, and Uncle Jonathan. I took this picture to add to Grayson's "Who Loves Baby?" book.
Kev and Rachel announcing their wedding video at the front of the church.
The three cousins from my dad's side that were born with in a year of each other. Congrats to Heather (in the brown), she's expecting her first baby this spring. And Rachael had the arm strength to hold Grayson for a half hour!
Jenney and I were trying to confuse people! I am holding Jack (born at the end of June) and she is holding Grayson (born at the end of August). We found out on Monday this past week that Grayson now weighs 17 lbs... doesn't he look HUGE!
Our family arriving to the church for the reception. One of my favorite pictures of our family from the weekend... I'm not sure why though.
Jayce playing with Grandma D. Those two seem to like one another a lot.
It was such a fun afternoon, and I am so glad to have been able to see all of the family and friends that we were able to see. After an event like this, I'm always tired, but looking forward to the next time we'll be able to see everyone.

Meeting Uncle and Aunti Mernt

Again apologies for the lack of posts.
Last Thursday night, Grayson finally had the privilege of meeting Uncle Kevin and Aunti Rachel. Because they drove all day long, they were pretty tired when they arrived to my parent's house. Kevin told us that when Rachel is tired, all she can say is, "Mernt!" After pressing him for a meaning to that "word" and talking about mernt so much, Jayce started calling them Uncle Mernt and Aunti Mernt. Well, that was will a little bit of coaching... (insert evil laughter!) Both of the boys were thrilled to get to see Uncle and Aunti after talking about them the entire week leading up to the reception.
Thanks to Aunt Dawn for making this picture possible. I love the idea of matching the boys' outfits every once in a while, and I thought the matching sweatsuits were adorable!
Rachel is so good with my kids. I absolutely loved seeing her playing with Jayce and cuddling with Grayson. Even though I think they should wait to have kids (afterall, they just got married!!), I think Rachel (and Kev too) is going to be an amazing parent!
I have pictures of Kevin cuddling with Jayce in a very similar pose. It's fun for me to see him loving on my boys. I just wish he had more of a chance to do so!
Friday morning, we got up and hung around the house playing for a while. Jayce's favorite toy right now is his blocks. He was constantly trying to entice someone into building with him all weekend long. Aunti Rachel was his current building buddy, and she thought he looked good burried in the blocks! Jayce hardly noticed the was piling the blocks on him, he just kept building!
Friday was also our set-up day at the church - Jayce wanted to get in on the action by helping the men tear down some tables. Jayce did most of the heavy lifting... :o)
Friday night we also celebrated all of our families' fall birthdays. Jeremy's birthday (actually today!!!) present from Kevin and Rachel was a halloween costume - Kevin labeled it a "sketchy 911 operator" outfit. Don't you love the wig!! Jayce was very nervous of Jeremy when he had this outfit on. Jeremy's other big present is sitting on his lap... 10 points to whomever can identify it!
While Nana was working on the computer, she gave Jayce a calculator that was about the size of his head to play with. Jayce automatically identified it as a cell phone (do you think he sees someone on a cell phone a lot??), and used it in that mannor. He even shared with Uncle Kevin!
Well, here's the first day and a half of our weekend, stay tuned for more to come shortly!

Hanging Out at Home

Just a few cute pictures from the few days that we had to wait through to get to this past weekend when we got to see Uncle Kevin and Aunti Rachel. Mrs. Rutledge was sweet enough to make Grayson some personalized burp cloths. This is one of them! Grayson loves it.
For those who were wondering, yes, Lexi still exists. She's definitely not getting the same amount of attention that she was before kids, but she's still happy to be living here! Kev, this picture is for you!
Daddy and Grayson hanging out (sleeping) on the couch. Boy, they look comfortable!!
Check back tomorrow for a bunch of awesome pictures from this weekend! We had so much fun with Uncle Kevin and Aunti Rachel.
