Saturday we got to enjoy this season's display at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Every year around Christmas, the Gardens has many Christmas trees and traditional decorations for Christmas (and other similar holidays) around the world. We were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the displays with Jeremy's parents, Grandma and Grandpa, again this year.
Not only were there trees to admire, there were some of the traditional decorations for various other holidays that are similar to or close to Christmas. Below, Grandma, Jayce, and Jeremy are looking at a nativity scene encased in a glass case.
This is the tree for Africa.
In a couple of the green house rooms, there was a train that went along the ceiling. Jayce had the best view of the train as it went whizzing by.
See what I mean? He was about an inch away from touching it when Jeremy lowered him back down.
There was an interesting new sculpture artist who created art for the green houses too. There is a large sculpture out in the park that is connecting letters that was pretty interesting - however, it was much too cold to get a close up picture of it; not to mention, I'm not too sure that they want that kind of stuff photo graphed.
Jayce and Jeremy enjoying the green house.
Some of the decorations they had around the gardens.
Of course, we had to take advantage and try to get some good Christmas pictures in the perfect setting. This is the only one that I took in front of this tree that actually looked like him. I decided that after taking pictures all day long that this sweater is not flattering on Jayce! Horizontal stripes... what was I thinking??
I think Jayce could get a job along side these nutcrackers.
We also took some cute family pictures. I was surprised to see how well they turned out! Everyone smiling (well, those who could on cue) and looking at the camera?? That's some sort of miracle. And this was only the second picture!
Grandma and Grandpa got in on the action too. Who wouldn't want to take pictures with these two cuties?
You gotta love the timer function. A picture with everyone in our group.
Jayce and Grayson took their turn posing in front of a tree. Jayce even tried to hold Grayson, with a little help.
Just Grayson. I think this one is going on the wall.
Checking out the turtles downstairs.
Grayson asked to check out just one more tree, and just a little bit closer, before we left.
