No, it's not the 4th of July. However, this weekend is Celebration on the Grand in Grand Rapids, and they kick off the festival every year with fireworks. Now, knowing what a HUGE fan of fireworks Jayce is, and the fact that he had a really late nap and only got up at 6 pm, we thought it was only appropriate to try to go see them Friday night.
We started out the night at a local playground with about 50 other kids and parents. Jayce had a blast running around with the other kids, but I did not. When it's dark out and there are big kids not caring if they run over a 21 month old, it makes me nervous. Thankfully, we all survived to enjoy the fireworks!!
Jayce and Jeremy had fun sitting and ooing and ahhing over the big bangs. Jayce even spent some time identifying the various colors of the fireworks. He got them all right!!
Yes, Grayson got to come along to see his first fireworks. He was covered by blankets, but I made sure to leave a little hole so he could peek out when his eyes actually opened!! Ironically enough, just a few short months ago, we had Jayce at that same park when he was only 5 weeks old to see the fighter planes fly over for President Ford's funeral. My how time flies!!
